learning theories
In this section you will need to know about the following theories;
Operant Conditioning- Positive and negative reinforcement and punishment
Cognitive/insight theories
Bandura’s observational model of learning
Social learning theory
Motor learning –Schmidt’s schema theory (recall, recognition, initial conditions, response specifications, sensory consequences, response outcomes)

operant conditioning & Insight learning
Common questions here ask you to distinguish between positive, negative reinforcement and punishment. Make sure you are able to give examples of each one.

observational learning / social Learning
Questions here ask about the four stages involves in the Observational Learning Model. Make sure you know each one and the characteristics of each stage.
You may also get asked what is important in the stages to make it effective. Eg- The performer can see the demonstration, it is an accurate demonstration.
Attention- How attractive/ successful the role model/significant other is. Can the demonstration be seen?
Retention- Can the observer remember/ keep the skill in their memory/ mental image. Id the demonstration meaningful and realistic.
Motor Reproduction- Can the performer physically do the skill? You must give an immediate opportunity to practice the skill after the observation.
Motivation- amount of reinforcement/ praise and sense of satisfaction they get.
