Learning & Performance
In this section you will need to know about;
Learning – stages of learning, use of guidance
How feedback differs between the different stages of learning
Learning plateaus – causes and solutions
Motivation – intrinsic, extrinsic, tangible and intangible

stages of learning
In this section you need to be able to describe the characteristics of a performer in each stage of learning. Common questions ask about the Cognitive and Autonomous stages.
You will also be asked about feedback and which types of feedback are most suitable for a performer in a particular stage of learning.

plateaus
In this section you may be asked to interpret a graph and identify a plateau. Common questions include why a performer would hit a plateau and what can be done to help them overcome a plateau.

motivation
In this section you will need to be able to describe the different types of motivation using examples.
Remember that there are two types of extrinsic motivation. Don't get confused with the word 'external' - this is feedback, you must use the word 'extrinsic' to gain marks.
Key word for intrinsic motivation is 'drive from within'.
Higher level questions often ask about the benefits of using intrinsic over extrinsic or what problems can using too much extrinsic cause. Mark schemes are very tricky with these questions so please do examine these carefully.
