nutrition
In this section you need to know the following;
The seven classes of food and their exercise-related function – fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, fibre, minerals and water
The need for a balanced diet and the energy balance of food
The performer’s use of nutritional information based on their activity, difference in diet composition between endurance athletes and
power athletes
Definitions of obesity and the limitations in trying to define it
Percentage body fat/body composition and Body Mass Index (BMI) as measures of nutritional suitability.

Diet & Nutrition
Questions here often require you to know the functions of the food groups including vitamins and minerals so don't neglect these!
You often have to define a 'balanced diet' so remember that using the word balance in your answer i.e. 'a balance of all the food groups' will not score you marks.
When discussing difference in diet for performers it is usually between a power athlete and an endurance athletes. A top tip here is that you need to write the key word MORE. For example a power athletes would need MORE protein for muscle growth and repair.

obesity & measurement of obesity
Questions here require you to know an objective definition of obesity using either BMI or % body fat, made up definitions such as 'too much fat' or 'unhealthy levels of fat' will not score marks.
Risks of obesity to health is a common question- be careful here as many of the obvious answers will be credited as the same mark. Learn four or five different risks.
Questions asking how obesity will affect performance are also common too
Limitations in trying to define obesity are trying to get you to understand that by using BMI we do not take into account things like body frame, muscle mass etc so the measurement if actually very limited in its effect.
